Translation Fails!
Hey Fanclubbers!
Our last month for the 2022 Points Table - and we are brining you a new activity!
So what is “Translation Fails”?
Have you ever wondered just how these Eurovision songwriters come up with their extraordinary lyrics, especially when not coming from a predominantly English-speaking country?
We think we have figured it out!!! We know that Google Translate can sometims lead us astray when translating from or to another language. What happens to Eurovision lyrics when we start with a song in English, and cycle it through a few different languages?
This is the burning question on EVERYONE’s lips. And now… On yours.
How will this work?
We will post a group of translations every 3-4 days from October 1st. All you need to do is correctly identify the song/country/year for each to earn one point per translation.
We’ve made it a little easier on you, by limiting the year scope from only the last twenty years. There will be five rounds of five songs to decipher. Some are easy, others, not so much
Please note: Board members cannot participate in this activity.
Where do I submit my guesses?
The button at the bottom of this page will open for you to submit your answers. The list below will expand as new translations are added. You just need to submit your guess against the correct number. That is, if you are submitting your guess for Translation number 2, simply put your guess in the box under “Number 2”.
Each Group has it’s own form. That is, Group 2 has a form named “Group 2 Answers”. See below.
The Translations???
Here are the links to the groups of translations. The links will go live every 3-4 days. We will notify via Facebook and the website when they are live.
