OGAE Song Contest 2024 - Representative!
Hey Fanclubbers!
It is that time of the year… We need to select our representative for the upcoming OGAE Song Contest 2024! And we have! It was a close race throughout the process. Two songs emerged as frontrunners - “Hot to Go” and “Please Please Please”, and they swapped and changed until the very end… Our result is valid, and the song that will represent OGAE Rest of the World is…
Please, Please, Please by Sabrina Carpenter
Sabrina Annlynn Carpenter was born on May 11, 1999, in Quakertown, Pennsylvania. She has three older sisters and was homeschooled. She first gained recognition for starring in the Disney Channel series Girl Meets World (2014–17). In 2014, Sabrina released her debut single, "Can't Blame a Girl for Trying". In the 2010s, she released four studio albums, to limited commercial success.
Carpenter signed with Island Records in 2021 and released the single "Skin" which became her first entry on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Her fifth studio album, Emails I Can't Send was supported by the singles "Nonsense" and "Feather". In 2024, she opened for Taylor Swift at the Eras Tour, increasing her mainstream prominence. Carpenter's upcoming album, Short n' Sweet, is preceded by the singles "Espresso" and "Please Please Please". Espresso reached number 3 on the Billboard Hot 100, while Please Please Please became her first Billboard Hot 100 chart topper, making number 1 on June 29, 2024.
Please Please Please contains musical influences of disco-pop, country, and yacht rock; lyrically, the singer instructs her boyfriend (played by Saltburn’s Barry Keoghan in the music video - also her current partner) not to blunder and blemish her reputation.
The song received acclaim from music critics upon release. Outside of the United States, the song topped the charts in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Norway, and the United Kingdom. It peaked within the top ten in 18 other countries, including Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Portugal, and Sweden.
She is also a niece of actress Nancy Cartwright, whose voice has graced our televsion screens for 35 years as Bart Simpson!

What is the OGAE Song Contest?
The OGAE Song Contest (SC) is designed to promote national music and singers from competing countries, and to give them wider exposure across member clubs.
The OGAE SC is an audio-based competition between songs nominated by member OGAE national clubs. This is not a Eurovision-based contest and songs should not have participated in any national Eurovision selection process.
We put the call out to gather some songs you would like to represent our club at this year’s contest… And we received 19!
